TheBenchmade 5700SGY-1 Auto Presidio II is an automatic version of the iconic tactical knife, equipped with a partially serrated CPM-M4 carbon steel blade, 6061-T6 aluminum liners, and 2 locks.
Premium steel
The 94mm-long drop-point head is made of high-carbon CPM-M4 tool steel hardened to as high as 62-64 HRC. Thanks to the high content of molybdenum, vanadium and tungsten, the high level of carbon has been balanced, which contributes to excellent sharpness retention and tremendous hardness. When choosing a knife made of hard high-hardened steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient. The blade is coated with a matte-black coating, which partially protects the blade from scratches and gives it a tactical look.
Combo blade
Aperfectly sharp cutting edge, a strong hilt and a concave grind ensure aggressive cutting, and good penetration. The partially serrated blade makes it easy to cut hard (e.g. plastic and bone) and fibrous materials (ropes, belts, webbing). Combo blades (a combination of a smooth and serrated cutting edge) are favored by soldiers, rescue workers and those looking for tools with a broader spectrum of applications.
Spring-assisted
The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using the locking slider on both sides, making the knife ready for use in no time. Auto Axis-lock mechanism, valued for its high mechanical strength, resistance to dirt and ease of use, is responsible for the safety of work. The knife uses an additional lock to prevent accidental unfolding of the blade during handling.
Lightweight and durable linings
The 6061-T6 anodized aluminum facings have a contoured shape that expands at the base of the blade to form a natural hilt, which prevents the hand from slipping on the blade and provides a point of support for the fingers. The beveled frets emphasize the tactical character, and provide a firm grip on the knife both with the bare hand and with a gloved hand. Discreetly carrying the knife in a pocket is made possible by a high-mounted clip with the option of flipping it to the other side.
