TheBenchmade 539GY Anonimus is a true full-tang survival knife, featuring a CPM-Cruwear tool steel blade, G10 liners and a functional sheath with a flint loop.
"... A man without a knife is a dead man..." says an old Nordic proverb from the Faroe Islands. This was probably the maxim that guided Benchmade's designers in creating the Anonymous knife - a great tool for buschraft and survival.
Benchmade 539GY Anonimus - the perfect knife for buschraft and survivalism
Benchmade Anonimus is a medium-sized survival knife with full-tang construction. This term is used to describe knives made of a single piece of steel, whose shank (internal skeleton) extends the full length of the handle. Full-tang has liners attached directly to the shank, which increases the mechanical strength of the knife and makes it virtually indestructible.
The blade has a strong hilt, a flat grind and an edge with a pronounced belly, which guarantees smooth cutting and easy penetration. The knife is coated with thermosetting Tungste Grey Cerakote paint. This is an abrasion- and chip-resistant ceramic coating that protects the steel from corrosion.
The drop-point head is 2.9 mm at its widest point, which provides high mechanical strength and above-average cutting properties. Thanks to this, the Benchmade 539GY Anonimus can be successfully used for wood batoning, game causation and meal preparation. Such properties guarantee the functionality and durability of the knife and allow it to be used for heavy work. Full-tang knives are famous for their strength and resistance to damage, which is why they are commonly used by soldiers, military, survival and bushcraft enthusiasts. On the back of the blade transverse cutters have been made for thumb rest, which facilitates stable guidance of the blade. Work safety is ensured by an enlarged hilt, which prevents the hand from slipping on the blade. The knife has a choil (oval cutout on the blade) with a sharp edge, the size of which has been adapted for use with ferrocerium flints.
Benchmade survvial knives - durable and reliable tools for field work
The latest Crucible Industries LLC tool steel - CPM-Cruwear hardened to a hardness as high as 63-65 HRC- was used for the construction of the blade. With excellent wear resistance and strength, CPM-Cruwear can be described as a steel with twice the performance of the original D2 steel. The new formula is enriched with vanadium, tungsten and molybdenum additives, which give the steel exceptional wear resistance and allow for high hardening. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
The knife has contoured liners made of armored G10 plastic attached to the bolt. To prevent the knife from slipping, the handle has a contoured shape and transverse milling to increase grip. The back of the handle has a hole for a rope or thong. A sheath made of Boltaron, a thermoplastic material highly resistant to damage, temperature and moisture, is used to carry the knife safely at the belt. The sheath has a functional addition in the form of an external loop, adapted for carrying a flint (not included).
